The aim of the present study is to evaluate the antipyretic activity of ethanolic extract of Canthium Dicoccum using yeast induced pyrexia in albino rats. Canthium Dicoccum belonging to family Rubiaceae commonly known as Nallamandharam in India is a branched glabrous shrub or small trees. The various plant parts like stem bark, roots, flowers and seeds have also been used in traditional medicine. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the ethanolic extract of Canthium Dicoccum had significant (p<0.05) dose dependent antipyretic properties at 200 and 400mg/kg on pyrexia induced by yeast on albino rats. The present investigation revealed that the ethanolic extract of Canthium Dicoccum possess a very good anti pyretic activity.
